Preparing for What's Next

Hello Skyview Friends,

As we head into August, I wanted to give everyone a quick heads-up about the milk supply.

Over the next few weeks, we'll have several of our Jersey girls dried off as they prepare to calve, which means we'll have a little less milk available than usual. If raw milk is part of your weekly routine, we recommend placing your orders a little earlier than normal, as we expect some days to sell out more quickly.

The good news is that this is all part of the natural rhythm of a dairy farm. While our milk supply may dip for a short time, we'll soon be welcoming several new calves to the farm, and fresh moms will be returning to the milking herd soon.

Even with a little less milk, it's been a season full of exciting firsts.

Over the past two weeks, we made our very first cheeses for the farm store—fresh farm cheese and fresh cheddar cheese curds. We've talked about making our own cheese since the day we took over the farm, so finally seeing those first batches come together was a pretty exciting moment. We still have a lot to learn, but we're looking forward to sharing that journey with you.

Yesterday morning was another exciting milestone as we bred six of our Jerseys—three heifers that will hopefully become first-time moms next year, along with three of our current milkers. Every breeding decision is an investment in the future of our herd, and it's rewarding to watch the next generation begin to take shape.

We're also continuing to make progress on our transition to Mine Creek Farmstead, and we're excited to share a first look at our new logo. Over the coming weeks, you'll begin to see our new branding appear around the farm, online, and on our products. While the name is changing, our commitment to producing exceptional dairy products and caring for our animals remains exactly the same.
