Raw Milk Carpool Program
How It Works
A Simple Way to Access Farm Fresh Raw Milk
At Skyview Farm, many of our customers drive from throughout eastern Kansas and western Missouri to purchase fresh raw milk directly from the farm.
Because Kansas requires raw milk to be purchased directly from the farm, many families choose to organize local raw milk carpools to make trips easier, more efficient, and more convenient.
Some of our customers travel more than an hour to visit the farm, and the carpool system helps reduce driving time, fuel costs, and scheduling challenges while still allowing each customer to place and pay for their own individual order.
Whether you live in the Kansas City metro area, Johnson County, Douglas County, Miami County, Crawford County, Jackson County, Cass County, or surrounding communities, a raw milk carpool can be a great option for consistent access to fresh farm dairy.
-
Every customer in the carpool group places their own order individually through our online ordering system.
Each order is paid separately using:
Credit card
Debit card
Cash
Check
This keeps each customer’s order and payment separate and organized.
-
Carpool group members coordinate with one another and select the same pickup date when placing orders.
Some groups visit:
Weekly
Every other week
Monthly
The schedule is entirely up to the group.
-
When placing the order, each customer should include a note indicating:
Who will be picking up the order, or
The name of the carpool group if applicable
Example:
“Picked up by Sarah with the Olathe carpool group.”
This helps us organize orders efficiently and ensure everything is ready at pickup time.
-
Most carpool groups rotate who drives to the farm each trip.
For example:
One family may drive this week
Another family may drive the next pickup
Another member may handle the following trip
This allows everyone in the group to share driving responsibilities and dramatically reduces the number of long trips each person has to make.
Many customers find this system makes regular farm-fresh dairy pickup much more manageable.
Cooler Recommendations
We strongly recommend that every carpool member provide:
A cooler large enough for their order
Clearly labeled coolers with their name
This helps:
Keep milk cold during transport
Prevent confusion between orders
Make pickup faster and easier for everyone
Large insulated coolers work especially well during summer months and for customers traveling longer distances from Kansas City and surrounding communities.
Returning Glass Jars
Many customers return reusable glass jars during pickup. To help us properly track jar returns and issue credits accurately, we recommend:
Labeling returned jars with the customer’s name
Keeping each household’s jars grouped together
This helps ensure the correct customer receives credit for returned jars.
Benefits of Joining a Raw Milk Carpool
Many families enjoy the carpool system because it:
Reduces fuel costs
Saves time
Makes long-distance pickups easier
Allows access to fresh farm dairy farther from the farm
Helps connect local families interested in traditional foods and local agriculture
Over time, many carpool groups become small local food communities that coordinate orders, share recipes, and support local farming together.
